If you have any questions regarding anything, contact your Studio Owner. Your Studio Owner will determine your meetup time, performance time, arrival time. We regret during the busy travel tour season , we do not have staff available to answer questions on hotels, travel, general times. Your Dance Studio Owner will have this info for you .

Note: CONVENTION WORKSHOP: Independent Entries are accepted.
COMPETITION. We do not accept independent entries. If you are a Solo, your dance studio owner must enter you online and dance studio owner/ teacher must be present at the show with you.

Some of our shows are free admission, unlimited quests, while some shows in smaller venues or strict schools require Admission Tickets or a Cap on number of guests.
On the Tour Date Page you will see Details for each Show.
Please refer to the Admission Policy of the show location you wish to attend.
Participating Teachers and Dancers in the show Do Not Pay Admission.

COMPETITION RULES Click to view

Parents must inform all guests of the rules. The focus is on the educational performance opportunity for paying dance students. Should a guest or relative be problematic to door staff, school officials, ushers, crew, other attendeess, they will be asked to leave at once. There is a zero tolerance toward anyone who is interruptive.

CONDUCT Click to view

All must conduct themselves as ladies and gentlemen at all times. No running in hallways. Stay within the designated areas of the hotel/high school.

You may enter yourself without your Studio into our Convention if you have your Studio Permission. Do not enter thru the DC genie Teacher Software. Simply enter thru https://registernow.stepup2dance.com

DANCE TITLE Click to view

DANCE TITLE is an optional event. It is not the same as OVERALL SOLO TALENT.
In DANCE TITLE, a soloist competes against all ages who enter this optional.
In SOLO TALENT, a soloist competes against only those in her /his age division.
One has nothing to do with the other . A performer may win both.
The Dance Title entry is for a soloist who wish to test their skill against all solos in all age divisions who enter the Optional Title.
This is an OPTIONAL event, separate from overall high point solo.
All performers receive Trophy Award, however there is only 1 Title Tiara and Sash Overall Winner. In some shows, if entries warrant, there may be a Jr Overall added.

DRESSING ROOM Click to view

Only participating dancers, 1 chaperone and teacher are allowed in Dressing Room . No boys, dads, siblings, friends. Do not spray near others or any chemicals that maybe sensitive to allergy prone people. Bring costumes to your vehicle as soon as Act is over and keep your dressing area clean. Bring into the dressing room Only what you need for the first couple acts. Competition nor venue is responsible for lost, damaged, stolen.

FOOD POLICY Click to view

No food or drink is allowed in theatres, auditoriums , locker rooms or dressing rooms. Venues will offer concession lunch. All food must be consumed in lobby or cafe. If you choose to bring a cooler, it must remain in the car. Unlike a movie theatre, you may face fines from school and /or disqualification from competition for bringing food into theatre, competition room or dressing space.

Some locations may require admission and have other limitations, such as number of guest. Be sure to check the Tour Locations page on this website. Be sure to check with your studio owner at least 2 weeks prior regarding the admission policy .
Note: Food, Coolers are strictly forbidden to come into any high school or college theatre.

INDEPENDENT ENTRY Click to view

Our system is designed to give pricing and scores only to Studio Owners. If your studio is not attending & you would like to perform, only your STUDIO OWNER may enter you under the STUDIO name. Dancers, Performers, Parents may not use the online entry form.
Note: We can not accept phone calls, emails, social media from students, parents or eneral All questions must be directed to your Studio Owner, who in turn will contact us.

INJURY Click to view

If you are injured or feeling sick please stay home. With a doctor's note, we will issue a credit to the dance studio. Participating in the sport of dance competitions can be rigorous and can result in injury. Upon entering the competition, parents / students / chaperones / studio personnel hold harmless Step Up2 Dance for injury, damage or loss. It is understand that dancers competing in a dance competition take certain incumbent risks. These include, but are not limited to sprains, pulled muscles, broken bones. Injuries can be minimal, serious and catastrophic. By entering the competition, I forever release Step Up2Dance, owners, directors, staff and independent contractors from any and all claims, damages, liability, loss of service and cause of action of any kind including negligence or its future negligence which may occur while participating in any activity connected with this dance competition, including traveling to and from the event.

LOST/FOUND Click to view

Step Up2 Dance is not responsible for lost, stolen, misplaced articles. All Lost / Found is turned into our Registration Desk./Program Book Table. We regret we can not make announcements or stop the show. At the end of the competition, our lobby manager will leave all unclaimed found items with the venue for you to pick up at your convenience.

MODELING EVENTS Click to view

Formal Wear Model (dress or gown), Fashion Wear Model, (casual coordinated outfit), and Costume Model are offered for all ages. All modeling events are Free style, (no props please), approx 1 min on stage, we provide music. Modeling is typically held prior to the start of solos.
Please take care to keep the outfit age appropriate .

NO RECOMPETES Click to view

Each Performer has one and only one time slot on stage . Once a performer begins dancing, he/she must finish their routine no matter what. Should the music fail, skip, stop , should dancer forget routine, lose timing, the student is required to finish, even it is acapella, without music. No Fault, Our Fault, Your Fault, Recompeting is Not Allowed.

NO REFUNDS POLICY Click to view

In event dancer cannot attend due to illness, injury…. the teacher may substitute another dancer in the same category, same age, same ability. If Teacher can not substitute dancer, a credit will be given to the studio. No refunds can be made.

No Smoking anywhere near or on School Grounds. This may result in dismissal & disqualification.

By entering a Step Up 2 Dance competition , participants, (dancers, teachers, choreographers) give their permission to Step Up 2 Dance to use their photograph, video and /or likeness in any promotional effort without compensation. Step up 2 dance is not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen items.

Photo services offered at all shows. Audience, Students, Teachers is not allowed to take photos during competition. You may take photos during Awards

PHOTOGENIC ENTRY Click to view

Photogenic entry can be headshot, 3/4 shot or full length. Can be home shot or professional. No larger than 8x10. Costume Photogenic can be for soloist or group. Must be emailed in at least 2 weeks prior to show.

Program books are sold at the show with each dancer's name in print.

Your Studio Schedule is available 7 days before your show. This is sent to participating Studio Directors only via email at 3pm on Monday of show week. If you are a student in a group that is in several routines or more, you may be required to be at the venue early, prior to 8am so as not to hold up the line up, causing hardship to other performers, other schools & teams. Come early be prepared to dance 1 hour ahead. Souvenir Program Books with all the routines and dancers are available for sale only on show day in the lobby for $10.,limited quantity.

Shoes must be worn at all times when not performing per venue mgmt.

SPORTSMANSHIP Click to view

Good behavior is expected from all. It is mandatory that performers/parents infom their guests/relatives of all the rules. A breach of the rules from guest or family member could result in performer or studio being disqualified.

VIDEO TAPING - PHOTO TAKING Click to view

Video taping and Photo taking IS NOT ALLOWED during the competition by camera, ipad, cell phone. Professional services are available. You may take still photos during awards only.

Failure to abide by any of the above rules is grounds for disqualification with entry fees and prizes forfeited.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND Click to view

Mom or a Chaperone to handle costumes and everything a dancer needs.
Be sure to read all rules and check the location you are attending for rules on guests and admission policy as this can change depending upon your venue size and limitations.
Your Studio Director / Teacher will determine your meet up time, place. Everything at the dance competition revolves around your team's performance so follow the guidelines from your Studio Director.
Grandparents may not like the loud music.
Siblings/ friends can not tag along into the dressing room. They must stay in lobby or theatre seat displaying coutesy to other guests and performers.
Those with special needs may not find a crowded high school comforting.
Dance competitions last for hours or the whole day and guests may not find it fun like you do. Mostly dancers hang out with the team, taking photos and watching other groups.
Your team has invested a lot of money and your attention needs to go to the Dance Studio and Director first.
A short dance recital is perfect for most guests.
Dancer/ Parents are responsible for guests to follow rules:
no smoking on school grounds, no coolers allowed in classrooms, dressing rooms, no photo/videos during show & all rules applicable to performers.

All SU2D Workshops are 1 day. Classes are a reasonable size and students who need extra help have the opportunity for more instruction.

Step Up 2 Dance provides high level quality workshops with the best hand picked educators we can hire. To set a high standard for the industry, we have a No Soliciting Policy

Hired Master Teachers, Judges, Faculty are under agreement with Step Up 2 Dance.
Do not allow students, parents, teachers to solicit or approach Master Teacher, Judge, DJ, Photographer, Videographer or any staff member for jobs, gigs, side deals or their email address or phone number.
Do not solicit staff on social media.


Violators soliciting at the show will be dismissed with entry fee forfeited.
If found to be Soliciting BEFORE or AFTER the event, you will be asked Not to attend in Future.

We ask you to use good judgment as you are setting an example to all students.
